"An Unforgettable Father and Maverick"

Daughter Sunnah described her father as having a "contagious smile" and being "an unforgettable father and a maverick of his generation." She told BirminghamLive: "My dad's smile was contagious, he always had a story to tell and never missed a chance to make you laugh."

She continued: "He left a mark on every life he touched, making an impact whether through his kindness, wisdom or his mischievousness. First of his family to pursue higher education, he graduated with a 2.1 in mechanical engineering and subsequently emboldened two generations into creating independent, successful and promising lives."

A Life of Continuous Learning and Adventure

Throughout his life, Ali Syed demonstrated remarkable versatility and determination. He became an expert builder, plumber, property investor, car importer and dealer, showing he could master virtually any field he pursued.

"Aside from his many achievements, dad was bold, daring and adventurous beyond all means," Sunnah explained. "He loved the outdoors no matter the weather, especially the snow, he loved exploring the world, climbing and anything dangerous really. But most of all, he loved to share these experiences with others."

Inspiring Others to Overcome Limitations

Those who knew Ali Syed remember his ability to inspire confidence in others. "In his presence, the impossible doesn't exist, and there's no saying 'I can't' because he will shout back at you with a stern but caring voice saying 'Yes, You Can' and funnily enough, he was right every time," his daughter recalled.

In honor of her father's memory, Sunnah encouraged others to "live life as boldly as he did, trying to experience and achieve as much as possible, with a smile on your face and determined to the end."

Community Mourns a Beloved Character

Ali Syed was born in Sylhet, Bangladesh and moved to Birmingham when he was just four years old. His funeral prayers were held at Jami Masjid Mosque in Small Heath on February 28, followed by burial at Sutton Coldfield Cemetery.

His best friend remembered him as "a friend who told it to you straight. He didn't mince his words and the reason you took it was because you knew without any question it was from a place of love. I will miss him dearly."

Another friend added: "He was someone who was a real character. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He was intelligent, funny and loyal. He always wanted to help others and was a real genuine, down to earth man. He will really be missed."

The Birmingham community mourns the loss of this remarkable man whose adventurous spirit and generous nature touched countless lives.
