EastEnders Star Michelle Collins Mourns Beloved Rescue Dog After 16 Years
Actress Michelle Collins, best known for her role as Cindy Beale on the BBC soap opera EastEnders, has expressed profound heartbreak following the death of her cherished rescue dog, Humphrey. The 63-year-old star revealed that Humphrey passed away after being her steadfast companion for 16 years, describing it as the hardest goodbye.
A Lifelong Companion and Joyful Presence
Michelle Collins adopted Humphrey from the rescue charity alldogsmatter approximately 16 years ago, and he quickly became an integral part of her life. She shared numerous images of the Shih Tzu, reflecting on their journey together and the immense joy he brought to her and her husband, Mike.
In a heartfelt social media post, Collins wrote, "Hi all, I wanted to put out a post to let you know that my beautiful little Humphrey has passed away. He came into my life about 16 years ago from the rescue charity alldogsmatter and he has been my steadfast companion everywhere since."
Humphrey's Adventures and Impact
Humphrey was a constant presence in Collins' life, accompanying her to various locations and spreading happiness wherever he went. The actress noted that he visited retirement homes and hospitals, bringing smiles to both children and adults with his gentle nature and distinctive tongue that always stuck out.
Collins elaborated, "I can’t think of a single dressing room that I have been in without him. He would often be seen in one of my baskets or bags accompanying me on theatre tours or shopping trips." She also mentioned that after meeting her husband 14 years ago, Humphrey developed a close bond with Mike, often keeping him company during work or when Collins was away.
Heartfelt Tributes and Support
The actress expressed the deep void left by Humphrey's passing, stating, "I cannot begin to describe how much joy he has brought into our lives and it is truly heart wrenching that he will no longer be there when I open my front door, wake up in the morning or go to sleep at night." Her husband, Mike, echoed these sentiments, saying, "my world was just a better place with him in it and I feel lost."
In tribute, Collins shared a series of photos over the years, captioning them with, "Humphrey Collins a.k.a The Humph. 'You were my favourite hello and my hardest goodbye.'" The post garnered an outpouring of support from followers and friends, who flooded the comments with condolences and messages of comfort during this difficult time.
