Rossendale Ramblers: Scenic Walks and Future Hikes Announced

Rossendale Ramblers Embark on Varied Walking Adventures

Rossendale Ramblers kicked off a week of diverse walks with a sunny outing at Dovestone Reservoir. On Wednesday, fourteen ramblers embarked on a ten-mile journey through this incredibly scenic area, exploring Yeoman Hey and Greenfield Reservoirs. The route also included a visit to the memorial of local MP James Platt, who tragically died in a shooting accident. The rocky outcrops and breathtaking views made the day particularly special for all participants.

Pub Walk and Summerseat Exploration

On Saturday, sixteen walkers enjoyed a lovely two-hour pub walk starting from Holcombe Village. The path skirted the MoD firing range and led to Pilgrims’ Stone, offering a mix of history and natural beauty. Most of the group extended their social time with lunch at the pub afterwards, fostering community bonds.

The following day, ten ramblers ventured on a nine-mile ramble around Summerseat and its environs. This hike featured the little-visited Summerseat Island, nestled in a bend of the River Irwell, providing a unique and tranquil experience for outdoor enthusiasts.
