A beloved resident of Wysall has celebrated her remarkable century in the comfort of her own home, joined by a very special message from Buckingham Palace. Phyl Chaplin reached her 100-year milestone surrounded by family and friends, marking the occasion as a proud Nottinghamshire local who has spent her entire life in the county.
Royal Recognition
The highlight of the festivities was the arrival of a personal birthday card from Their Majesties The King and Queen, honouring her landmark achievement and a lifetime of memories. Phyl, who still lives in her own home in Wysall with support from Carefound Home Care, celebrated her 100th birthday with a party surrounded by family.
A Life in Nottinghamshire
Born in Nottingham in 1926, Phyl has lived in Nottinghamshire all her life. She has one daughter, Anne, one son, Simon, and three grandchildren, and was happily married to her husband, Ray, for 50 years. Phyl worked as a PA before becoming a school secretary, a role in which her family say she 'secretly ran the whole school'. She has always enjoyed an active life, from playing tennis and bowls in West Bridgford to supporting Nottingham Forest and reading Jane Austen.
Three Generations Celebrate
Phyl Chaplin celebrated her 100th birthday with her daughter and granddaughter at her family party, bringing together three generations. To mark the occasion, members of her care team from Carefound Home Care also visited her with flowers and a card to wish her a very happy birthday.
