Community Mourns Beloved Teaching Assistant After Tragic Loss
The community of Cannock is in mourning following the tragic death of a much-loved mother and teaching assistant. Michelle Fisher, a 42-year-old resident, died by suicide on Friday, February 20, after what her family described as a 'difficult time'.
A Devoted Mother and Pillar of the Community
Michelle Fisher was a devoted mother to her three children: Morgan, 22, Jake, 18, and 13-year-old Harvey. Her family has paid a moving tribute, highlighting her kindness and selflessness. They said, "Michelle was the kind of person who brought warmth into every room she walked into. She had a natural ability to make people feel cared for, whether through her kindness, humour, or by always putting others first."
For nearly a decade, Michelle worked as a teaching assistant at West Hill Primary School in Cannock, where she became a familiar and cherished figure. Her warmth made children feel comfortable and supported, earning praise from many parents for her dedication.
A Life Filled with Love and Community Spirit
Beyond her professional role, Michelle was deeply involved in her community. She was a devoted supporter of her sons' football team, often helping out by serving tea and coffee to other supporters on the sidelines. Her love for football extended to Saturday afternoons spent at Hednesford Town FC, where she enjoyed watching 'The Pitmen' with friends and family.
Her family shared, "She created a life filled with love, loyalty, and community. Above everything, Michelle was devoted to her family and her passions, including her Labrador, Luna, who was always by her side."

In a mark of respect, Hednesford Town FC will hold a minute of applause before their game on Saturday, March 14, in memory of Michelle. Her loved ones have also set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her funeral and support her family during this challenging time.
The family explained, "This fundraiser will help us give Michelle a dignified and heartfelt farewell, reflecting the loving and generous person she was. It provides financial relief and security as we navigate life without her, offering breathing space to adjust to this unimaginable loss."
The loss has left a profound void, with her family noting, "Her absence is felt constantly, in quiet moments, family routines, and all the little things she used to do. We are still processing the shock, and everyday life feels completely different now."
