Stratford Cracks Down on Rowdy Tourists After Complaints

Warwickshire Police have launched a new initiative to clamp down on rowdy tourists visiting the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, after residents reported feeling intimidated by antisocial behaviour.

Operation Pendine Launched

The police force, in partnership with local authorities, has introduced Operation Pendine to address a rise in alcohol-related incidents, intimidation, and disruption in the town centre. The operation aims to identify potential problem groups travelling into Stratford, particularly on weekends and during school holidays.

Increased Police Presence

Officers will be deploying additional resources, including increased patrols outside the train station over the bank holiday weekend. They will also utilise powers such as Public Space Protection Orders, dispersal orders, and civil enforcement measures to prevent antisocial behaviour.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: "We want to ensure that Stratford-upon-Avon remains a welcoming place for both residents and visitors. This operation is about engaging with groups early to prevent problems before they escalate."

Tourists are reminded to behave responsibly while visiting the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The police urge anyone with concerns to contact them via email at newsdesk@birminghammail.co.uk.
