The idyllic model village of Bournville in the West Midlands is set to become the perfect winter destination as its much-loved Christmas Festival returns for another year. This festive extravaganza promises a delightful day out for the whole family.
Festive Fun for Everyone
The Bournville Christmas Festival will take place on Saturday, November 29, from 1pm to 6pm. Entry to the event is completely free, offering a budget-friendly seasonal activity. Visitors can look forward to a full programme of festive stalls, delicious food, live music, and the highly anticipated annual lights switch-on, scheduled for 5pm.
Family favourites include Santa's Grotto, which will be open for visits, and a charming Christmas tree trail that guides families around the picturesque village. For those seeking unique gifts, Sycamore Road will host a range of craft and community stalls selling seasonal treats and handcrafted items.
Community Spirit and Practical Details
The festival is a true community effort, organised by a partnership of local volunteers. Key groups involved include Bournville Parish Church, Bournville Village Council, Bournville Village Trust, and the Selly Manor Museum. Adding to the craft offerings, Selly Manor Museum will run its Handmade Christmas Craft Fair from 12pm to 5pm.
Organisers have confirmed that all stall spaces are already allocated and have issued a warning about social media scams falsely inviting traders to apply.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable event, several measures will be in place. Sycamore Road will be closed to traffic from 12pm to 7pm. Parking is limited to roadside spaces, so attendees are strongly encouraged to walk or use public transport. A small number of spaces for Blue Badge holders will be available at the Friends Meeting House on Linden Road.
Plan Your Visit
The festival is primarily an outdoor event. Toilet facilities will be located at Bournville Parish Church, the Friends Meeting House, and Selly Manor Museum. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the gardens, one building at Selly Manor Museum, and inside Bournville Parish Church.
Located in a village famous for its connection to the Cadbury family, this event offers a charming glimpse into Birmingham's unique industrial heritage while providing a perfect start to the festive season. For further details as the date approaches, check the official Facebook event page.
