Entries have officially opened for the much-anticipated 2026 Llanbister Show, marking the start of the local agricultural season. Scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday, May 25, this year's event promises a vibrant mix of traditional and new attractions, though organisers note some adjustments due to ongoing health restrictions.
Show Details and Entry Information
The Pig Show remains a cornerstone of the festivities, with its schedule and entry form accessible through the show's Facebook page or via email. However, the 'Fur and Feather' section will be limited to small animals only this year, as avian flu precautions continue to impact poultry displays. For more details, potential participants can contact Debbie directly on 07842 948306.
Organisers are crossing their fingers for improved weather conditions, recalling last year's event which, despite heavy rain and wind damage to several tents the day before, was celebrated for its fantastic community atmosphere. "We're hoping for sunshine, but the spirit here always shines through," a spokesperson remarked.
Pre-Show and Main Day Highlights
In the lead-up to the show, a Speed Shear and Car Treasure Hunt will engage locals and visitors alike. On the day itself, attendees can look forward to a dynamic Flyball dog display, Revvi Bike electric bicycle races for children, and the welcome return of the Llandrindod Silver Band.
Regular activities and competitions will also feature prominently, including:
- Crafts, produce, art, and photography contests open to all ages
- Dog, horse/pony, jumping, and sheep shows
- A raffle, tea tent, bar, and ice cream stalls
Creative Competitions with a Cosmic Twist
This year's overarching theme for art, crafts, and photography is 'Outer Space', inviting creative interpretations from across the wider region, not just Llanbister. "We are giving potential entrants plenty of notice and look forward to some creative interpretations, so brush up your paints and dust off your cameras!" organisers encouraged.
Additionally, a special competition offers prizes for designing and making simple cloth bunting to add colour to the showground. Full instructions for this and other contests are available on the show's Facebook page.
How to Get Involved
Detailed information on all competitions can be found on Facebook at Llanbister Show, requested via email at llanbistershow@hotmail.com, or by phoning the Secretary on 07598 101713.
Bookings are now open for craft, community, and trade stalls, as well as for placing adverts in the printed programme. Organisers highlight this as a key way to express goodwill and provide financial support, urging interested parties to book promptly to aid planning and ensure inclusion in the programme.
