Starting on Tuesday, February 17, the area will feature traditional market stalls and funfair rides continuing through to Saturday, February 21. This builds anticipation for the main Chinese New Year 2026 Festival occurring on Sunday, February 22.
The festival represents a collaborative production between the Birmingham Chinese Festival Committee and Birmingham Hippodrome. The highlight of the day will be a traditional lion procession weaving through Chinatown, accompanied by a packed schedule of theatrical performances at Hippodrome Square.
At the heart of the celebrations, the festival stage will present a busy programme showcasing the remarkable talent and creativity within Birmingham's Chinese and East Asian communities.
