Bosworth Medieval Festival Returns to Leicestershire with Battle Anniversary
The highly popular Bosworth Medieval Festival is set to make a triumphant return to the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, managed by Leicestershire County Council, this summer. History will vividly come to life over the weekend of Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, offering a packed schedule of entertainment suitable for all ages. This year's event carries extra significance as it coincides with the anniversary of the historic Battle of Bosworth, adding a commemorative layer to the festivities.
Thrilling Re-enactments and Family Activities
Attendees can anticipate thrilling re-enactments presented by The Wars of the Roses Federation, culminating in a grand Battle of Bosworth finale that promises to captivate audiences. The festival grounds will also feature majestic falconry displays, hilarious jester shows, live music performances, and captivating storytelling sessions. Families will have the opportunity to explore a bustling Medieval Market, participate in interactive 'have-a-go' activities, and enjoy specialised crafts designed specifically for children.
Inclusive Ticket Benefits and Award Recognition
The ticket price includes entry to the site's award-winning exhibition, author talks, and the convenience of free car parking. Last year's festival received a 'Highly Commended' accolade at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards, underscoring its status as a premier local event. Councillor Kevin Crook emphasized that the festival provides a fantastic opportunity for people to learn about the county's rich heritage while enjoying a memorable day out.
Commemorative Ceremony and Ticketing Details
A traditional rose-laying ceremony to mark the battle's anniversary will be held within the arena on Saturday. Tickets are priced at £23 per adult and £11 per child, with free admission for children under three. Each ticket is valid for the entire weekend, allowing guests to attend on either or both days without any additional cost. While tickets will be available at the gate, organisers strongly encourage residents to pre-book early to avoid disappointment. Booking can be done online at the official website or by phone.
