The Royal Horticultural Society is bringing back its popular Brick Explorers event in partnership with Iconic Bricks. Visitors can explore immersive wildlife trails at all five RHS gardens across the country: Wisley in Surrey, Harlow Carr in North Yorkshire, Hyde Hall in Essex, Rosemoor in Devon, and Bridgewater in Greater Manchester.
Event Dates and Activities
From July 11 until August 31, visitors will be invited to search for intricately hand-crafted brick creations and enjoy hands-on building activities. The theme of 'Bringing Nature Home' will be brought to life through interactive experiences inspired by the natural world.
Wildlife Brick Creations
More than 60 wildlife-inspired brick creations will be hidden throughout the gardens, designed and hand crafted by the team at Iconic Bricks. Some sculptures reach up to 1.8m tall, and more than 433,000 bricks have been used in total. Each garden site will feature its own collection of unique, larger-than-life models alongside visual and audio elements. Displays will include light-up Mycena mushrooms, a hooting tawny owl, a long-tailed tit perched in a nest, and a giant ladybird. Displays will appear in various forms and at different levels, from towering within tree canopies to nestled among flower beds.
Building Activities and Entertainment
Each garden will also host brick building activities, with the chance to create your own nature-inspired builds and imaginative green spaces. Selected gardens will be offering additional activities, including an interactive storytelling garden walk with storyteller Mike Dodsworth. Colour the Clouds Theatre Company will also be providing an enchanting theatre experience at certain locations.
Admission and Booking
The trail is included with standard garden admission, which costs from £5.25 for children (aged five to 16) and adults from £13.75. Tickets must be pre-booked online via the Royal Horticultural Society website.
Locations: Woking, Harrogate, Chelmsford, Torrington, and Worsley.
