The University of East London is set to transform its Stratford campus into a winter wonderland of creativity and community wellbeing this November.
Festival Highlights and Schedule
On Wednesday, November 26, the university will throw open its doors to the public for the UEL Community Health Day and Winter Festival. This vibrant celebration forms a key part of the University's Year of Health initiative and will run from noon until 8pm at the Stratford Campus.
Families, residents, and visitors from across London are invited to enjoy a full day of winter-inspired activities, live performances, and community engagement. The campus will feature creative workshops, health and wellbeing activities, various exhibitions, and seasonal food and drink offerings.
Creative Workshops and Live Entertainment
Visitors can participate in festive crafting activities including wreath-making, neon sign decorating, bauble and clay ornament creation, candle making, and drumming workshops. These creative sessions are available for a £5 donation to the UEL Winter Appeal.
The festival programme includes captivating live performances such as Snow Soldier street theatre in Stratford Square and immersive drumming performances. Seasonal food trucks will be on hand serving hot dishes, sweet treats, and festive drinks throughout the day.
Health and Wellbeing Focus
A major highlight of the event is the opportunity to explore UEL's pioneering Neighbourhood Health Hub, developed in partnership with the NHS and local authorities to make healthcare more accessible for local communities.
Guests can access two bookable services through the UEL Health and Performance Centre: an MSK Clinic offering musculoskeletal treatment, sports massage and assessments, and a Health MOT providing a 20-minute movement, body and lifestyle check with personalised guidance.
Additional health features include stalls from Newham Council and the London Aquatics Centre, plus complimentary wellness shots available in the Great Hall.
Early registrants who arrive on the day will have the chance to spin a prize wheel for complimentary food or drink vouchers redeemable at festival vendors. The university encourages visitors to register in advance through their official registration portal.
The UEL Community Health Day and Winter Festival takes place at University House, Water Lane, London E15 4LZ. Admission is completely free for all attendees.
