Sandwell to Host Giant Outdoor Sing-Along Cinemas with Lasers and Pyrotechnics
Sandwell is set to welcome two giant outdoor cinemas this summer, offering a unique blend of sing-along fun and immersive experiences enhanced by lasers and pyrotechnics. The Reel Feel Cinema events will transform Sandwell Valley Park in West Bromwich and Lightwoods Park and House in Bearwood into vibrant entertainment hubs, featuring live DJs, a bar, street food, classic fairground rides, and photo booths.
Immersive and Interactive Screenings
The screenings are divided into three types: sing-along, immersive, and a combination of both. Sing-along sessions will include on-screen lyrics, crowd microphones, warm-up vocal sessions, themed props, and glow sticks, allowing audiences to belt out their favorite tunes. Immersive screenings will feature synchronised laser shows, pyrotechnic effects, and surround lighting rigs, creating a multi-sensory experience. For the ultimate adventure, some shows merge both styles, offering all effects alongside on-screen lyrics and crowd-reactive lighting.
Film Lineup and Schedule
A diverse selection of films will be shown, catering to all ages and tastes. Morning movies will feature sing-along favorites, afternoon slots will showcase family classics, and evening treats will deliver immersive experiences. The lineup includes popular titles such as Mama Mia, Encanto, Coco, The Goonies, Grease, The Greatest Showman, and Moulin Rouge.
Events are scheduled on selected dates in May and June. At Sandwell Valley Park, screenings run from May 2 to 4 and June 14, with times ranging from 11 am to 6 pm. Lightwoods Park will host events on June 13 and 14, with similar timings. For example, on May 2, audiences can enjoy Encanto sing-along at 11 am, Lion King sing-along at 3 pm, and Jurassic Park immersive viewing at 6 pm.
Pre-Show Entertainment and Dining
The fun begins well before the film starts, with pre-show DJ sets, movie soundtrack warm-ups, themed playlists, and a fairground area. This zone will include games, prizes, candy floss, toffee apples, and a family-friendly fun zone. Food options promise to delight, with a great street food selection featuring loaded fries, wood-fired pizza, gourmet burgers, sweet treats like churros, and beverages including craft beer, cider, wine, prosecco, and Signature Reel Feel cocktails and mocktails.
