My guide to the best family things to do in Birmingham this week includes splash pad opening times, a Dutch barn play cafe, £1 Severn Valley Railway tickets, a free family day at The Fort, and a brand new soft play centre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Splash Pads and Paddling Pools
I love this time of year when all the spring flowers are in bloom, the evenings are longer, and all those summery activities we love start to reopen. The great thing about warmer weather is that we can get out and about with the kids without having to spend a fortune. One of the best activities on a sunny day has to be a visit to a splash park – free fun for the kids and generally close to a nice cafe for parents to grab a coffee.
We have rounded up all the best splash pads and paddling pools in the area and checked when they are reopening. Our guide even includes a brand new water play park and a couple of places that are opening for the first time in years – enjoy!
Rainy Day Ideas
As the weather is still quite mixed, it is good to have a rainy day idea up your sleeve too. A new vibrant-coloured play centre has opened in Stratford-upon-Avon. This would be a nice place to add to your to-do list for a family day out in Shakespeare's birthplace.
May Half Term Plans
Making plans for May half term? We have got you. We have been checking out the beautifully chic Crumb & Play cafe that is housed in a Dutch barn on a shopping park in Lichfield. It has a role play street and a soft play area filled with dreamy pastels. There is even a garden with wooden toys and seating to enjoy the sunshine.
Severn Valley Railway has £1 tickets for kids during the Whitsun school holidays, and one parent can take up to two children in the 'kids for a quid' deal. The Fort Shopping Park is hosting a special Eid Shopping Day with treats during the half term break too.
Whatever you choose to do, have a great week!
