Callum Turner, the 36-year-old British actor who recently married pop star Dua Lipa, has finally addressed the persistent rumours linking him to the role of James Bond. Despite being a top contender to replace Daniel Craig, Turner insists he knows nothing about the casting process.
Turner Responds to Bond Speculation
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Turner declined to comment directly on whether he has discussed the role with producers. 'I'm not going to comment on that,' he said. However, he found the widespread speculation amusing. 'Even your best friends ask you, people text you that you haven't spoken to for 10 years – and you know nothing! It's such a weird thing of something happening and nothing happening at all. I genuinely know nothing. I just find it quite amusing.'
Industry Support for Turner
Adding fuel to the fire, Hollywood legend George Clooney publicly endorsed Turner for the role. 'I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond. I think he would be a great Bond. He's tall and handsome and charming and British, so he's the perfect guy to do it,' Clooney said in the same interview.
Turner's Rising Profile
Turner is no stranger to major franchises, having played Theseus Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts series. His résumé also includes leading roles in Queen and Country, The Boys in the Boat, and Masters of the Air. At 36, his age is seen as an advantage, potentially allowing him to lead the franchise for several films.
Other Contenders for 007
Turner is far from the only name in the mix. Aaron Taylor-Johnson remains a frequent candidate, earning praise from former Bond Pierce Brosnan. 'I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so,' Brosnan said in 2024. Meanwhile, Taron Egerton has dismissed his own chances, stating, 'I think I'm too messy for that. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.' Other actors linked to the role include Jacob Elordi, Jack O'Connell, and Theo James.
The search for the next James Bond continues to dominate Hollywood, with fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement.
