The family of legendary rock star Ozzy Osbourne made an emotional visit to his hometown of Birmingham today, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, to mark what would have been his 77th birthday.

A Civic Honour for a Local Legend

During a special ceremony, the Osbourne family were presented with one of Birmingham's highest civic honours: the posthumous Lord Mayor's Award. This award recognises either outstanding achievement or exceptional service to the city and its people. In Ozzy's case, it specifically honours his monumental impact on Birmingham's cultural and musical identity.

The award was presented by the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Ken Wood. The family were also given Books of Condolence, filled with personal messages and tributes from fans, which were presented by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Zafar Iqbal MBE.

A Family Pilgrimage to Brum

The visit saw members of the Osbourne family, including Sharon, Kelly, and Louis, spending time in the city to remember their late husband and father. The day before the ceremony, on Tuesday, December 2, they were photographed at Villa Park.

Kelly Osbourne, aged 41, shared several updates with the public via her social media. She posted an image of herself sitting on the iconic Black Sabbath Bench, a tribute to her father's band, alongside other memorials dedicated to him. She also shared a picture of the Lord Mayor's Suite ahead of the presentation.

Touched by the City's Love

In a statement, the Osbourne family expressed that they were "deeply touched" by the award given in Ozzy's honour. They stated it was wonderful to see how he continues to inspire Birmingham, even after his passing.

The family noted that Ozzy was "so loved by the people of Birmingham," highlighting the profound and enduring connection between the global rock icon and the city that shaped him.

This poignant visit underscores the lasting legacy Ozzy Osbourne leaves behind, not just in the world of music, but in the heart of the community that proudly claims him as its own.
