Summer Game Fest 2026 has concluded after delivering some of the biggest announcements in recent years. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo all held their own showcases, each packed with new games or deeper looks at previously announced titles.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
The grand finale closed out the main show with a bang. Square Enix officially revealed Part 3 of the remake trilogy, confirming a Spring 2027 release date. It will launch day-and-date across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2. Matt Mercer took the stage to introduce gameplay featuring Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind piloting the Highwind airship.
Resident Evil: Veronica
Capcom officially announced a full remake of the 2000 classic Code: Veronica. Coming in 2027, it is being handled by the critically acclaimed RE2 and RE4 remake teams. While the moody cinematic trailer teased a first-person perspective, Capcom confirmed the final game will be a modernised third-person experience.
Alien: Isolation 2
Creative Assembly and Sega surprised horror fans by announcing a direct sequel to the 2014 masterpiece. Players will find themselves evading the Xenomorph on the surface of a storm-ravaged colony world, picking up where Amanda Ripley left off.
God of War: Laufey
Sony Santa Monica revealed a massive spin-off/sequel during the State of Play. For the first time, players step into the shoes of an incredibly angry mother—Kratos' late wife, Laufey—trapped in the afterlife battling a whole new pantheon of deities.
Gen Atlas
The first game in a decade from legendary director Fumito Ueda (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian). It features his signature delicate emotional tone and massive scale, but with a twist: players pilot gigantic robots from within their detachable heads.
Control Resonant
Remedy Entertainment showed off heavy gameplay and set a September 24, 2026 release date. The sequel shifts the focus from Jesse Faden to her brother, Dylan, reframing the series into a highly aggressive, melee-focused action RPG.
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain
Shift Up debuted a surprise trailer for Stellar Blade 2. Subtitled Blood Rain, it introduces a brand-new protagonist and continues the story beyond the events of the original game.
