Wolverhampton's The Parisian Cocktail Bar Closes, Shocking Locals

A once-popular bar in the heart of Wolverhampton has reportedly closed down, delivering a shock to locals and adding to the challenges facing the city's nightlife scene. The Parisian, located on Queen Square, opened its doors in 2018 and quickly became a go-to destination for cocktails and dining, including a bottomless brunch priced at £44.95 per person.

However, an image shared on social media shows the venue's sign has been removed from the address. The windows of the building have also been blurred out, indicating the establishment is no longer in operation. While The Parisian's website remains live, customers are unable to make new bookings at the site.

News of the closure has sparked a mixture of reactions among locals. Some expressed shock, while others noted it was 'hardly a surprise.' On the 'That's Bostin'' Facebook page, one person commented: 'My son worked there for a good while till he moved to The Greenhouse Bridgnorth if you fancy a nice drive out its better than Paris owed by the same people so same sort of vibe beautiful place and food is amazing.' Another reminisced: 'I DJed that bar for close to 5 years and the place was amazing, I really miss it.'

A third person speculated: 'It will probably be a barbershop or a nail shop or a vape like every other.' One added: 'Ah shame, it was pretty cool in there. We would always go when in Wolves.'

Another Hospitality Closure

The closure comes just days after it was announced that a nearby pub, The Greyhound in Lower Penn, would also shut its doors. Owners Frankie and Jordan cited 'increasing pressures' in a statement shared on Facebook: 'After 14 unforgettable years, the time has come for us to say goodbye to The Greyhound Lower Penn. This has not been an easy decision, but with the increasing pressures facing hospitality, it has become more and more difficult to continue running the pub.'

They added: 'We want to thank every single customer, friend, family member, member of staff, supplier, and supporter who has walked through our doors over the years. The memories made here will stay with us forever, and we are so grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown us throughout this journey.'

The statement concluded: 'For now, it’s goodbye… but we truly hope that one day The Greyhound can be great again. Thank you for everything. Love always, Frankie & Jordan.'

The loss of both The Parisian and The Greyhound highlights the ongoing struggles faced by the hospitality sector in the region.
