Major Expansion for Birmingham's Cultural Hub
One of Birmingham's most prominent live music and cultural destinations is undergoing a significant transformation that will dramatically increase its size. Forum Digbeth has revealed plans for a major expansion that will see its capacity double from 2,000 to 4,000 people.
This substantial growth comes through the addition of The Annexe, a newly acquired adjoining warehouse space that will operate alongside the existing venue. The development represents a major investment in Birmingham's nightlife and cultural infrastructure.
A New Chapter for Large-Scale Events
The expansion marks an exciting new era for large-scale live music, club events and immersive experiences in the heart of Digbeth. The venue is operated by the same team behind the former Forum Birmingham, which closed permanently in April when landlords shut the Corporation Square building.
Forum Digbeth itself only opened earlier this summer at the former Roller Jam site, quickly establishing itself as a key player in the city's cultural landscape. This rapid expansion demonstrates both the venue's early success and the strong demand for larger event spaces in the region.
Grand Opening and Future Events
The Annexe is scheduled to officially open its doors on Saturday, December 20, with an event featuring Cru2. The venue will then host DnB Allstars' New Year's Eve celebration, firmly establishing its position as one of the UK's most exciting multi-room event spaces.
Further shows are already planned for 2026, with major promoters including Live Nation, Louder and Bongos Bingo confirmed to bring events to the new space. Industry excitement about the development is palpable.
Louder commented: "Forum Digbeth has that raw, industrial energy you just can't fake and The Annexe builds perfectly on that vibe. Birmingham's scene has been crying out for somewhere like this, and we're hyped to help break it in."
Billy Chauhan at Global Venues added: "The Annexe lets us deliver the scale, production and atmosphere that major artists and promoters are demanding from Birmingham. We're doubling capacity because the city is ready for it; the audience is here, the ambition is here, and we're committed to leading from the front."
More announcements about events at The Annexe are expected soon. For updates and information, visitors can sign up via the Forum Birmingham website.
