Greetings, wonderful people. What is happening in your neighborhood? Yes, I know that talk sounds jumbled to us, but that is the way it goes these days. Trust me, I have been listening to kids talking on the street recently, and unless we catch up, we are going to be history. I was persuaded this week to tune in to Instagram, and it has been a real experience. You will never believe what I discovered. Are you ready? Talking dogs! I kid you not. Whatever else you do, do not ignore these amazing animals.
I was blown away, and I have seen most of what the world has to offer, but these dogs are something else. Yes, I know it is not all real, but it is very entertaining and so much funnier than most shows on TV. As long as you remember these may be genuine dogs, but the words they 'speak' are not. Some very clever people have put all this together.
If you want to understand real dogs, there are some excellent trainers on Instagram. All very informative but not as much fun. Back in the big world where real dogs live, it is a completely different story, so do not get the two confused.
Have no fear; dogs are smart but not in the way most owners see it. They really do not love being stuffed in an expensive handbag or shampooed every day. What they do crave is leadership, food, water, and a job. It sounds a bit uncaring, but it really is not. It is their way of dealing with the world, and a dog without it will never be in balance. Trust me, once you start to learn how dogs really think, it is a lot more fascinating than you ever imagined. Adult dogs can read us in a nanosecond. If you feel agitated or unwell, your dog will know, and you cannot fool him. This is the real canine world. If you do not give him the exercise and mental challenge he needs, he will invent his own, and it will not be good.
Owning a good dog is a two-way deal where he gives you what you want and you give him the same. Show him you really understand him, and he will be your friend for life.
For the past 32 years, Vic has trained dogs of all shapes, breeds, and sizes. More than 4,500 have passed through his training academy, and he says working with them has been a privilege, and they have taught him as much as he taught them.
Vic says: "After all this time communicating directly with dogs, I can honestly say I have never met a dog I could not help. Owners, however, are a little more difficult and need to learn how dogs really communicate. It means getting into the mind of the dog and really understanding. That insight will open a new world to you."
