Historic Swinfen Hall to host Midlands' first executive day centre for older adults
Swinfen Hall to host first executive day centre for elderly

A historic Staffordshire country hall is set to become the home of what is believed to be the Midlands' first executive-style day centre for older adults.

Executive Carers has partnered with Bushell Investment Group to launch The Village at Oscar's, based at Oscar's Estate, formerly Swinfen Hall, near Lichfield. Swinfen is a historic English estate that dates back to the Domesday Book. The current Georgian manor was built in 1757 by Benjamin Wyatt.

Opening date and services

The day centre, due to open on July 13, aims to provide day support for older people in a setting more commonly associated with hospitality and heritage than conventional day services. Located within the restored hall and its surrounding grounds, the centre has been designed to combine social opportunities, wellbeing activities and professional care in an environment intended to encourage independence and reduce social isolation.

Visitors will make use of the estate's historic interiors, landscaped gardens, social lounges, organised activities, freshly-prepared meals, wellbeing programmes and accessible transport.

A new vision for day care

Sara Bennett, founder of Executive Carers and co-founder of The Village at Oscar's, said: "We wanted to completely rethink what a day centre could be. Today's older generation has higher expectations than ever before. They deserve beautiful surroundings, meaningful experiences and exceptional care delivered with dignity and respect."

"Rather than asking people to spend their day in a community hall, we've created somewhere people genuinely look forward to visiting. The Village at Oscar's is about friendship, independence, wellbeing and creating moments that enrich everyday life."

"We believe this is a significant step forward for adult day services and we're incredibly proud to introduce what we believe is the first Executive Day Centre of its kind in the Midlands."

Supporting independence and carers

The service has been developed to support older adults who wish to continue living independently while also providing respite for family carers. It will be open to both privately funded clients and those whose care is arranged through Staffordshire County Council.
