This festive season, families across Leicestershire who receive benefits-related free school meals can access completely free holiday clubs for their children, packed with fun and educational activities.
What's On Offer for Families
The popular HAF Holidays Together programme is returning for the Christmas break, funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by Leicestershire County Council. The scheme provides a lifeline for eligible families, offering a vibrant programme designed to keep children entertained and engaged during the winter holidays.
Children can look forward to a diverse range of activities, including:
- Festive arts and crafts sessions
- Storytelling and music workshops
- Sports, dance, and local trips
Every session is carefully structured to help youngsters learn new skills, make friends, and stay active. Crucially, each child also receives a healthy, nutritious meal during their time at the club.
How to Book Your Sessions
Eligible families should have already received their unique voucher codes via text or email from Hello@holidayactivities.com on November 3. With this code, parents and carers can visit the dedicated Leicestershire HAF webpage to browse and book sessions.
Each eligible child can be booked into up to four sessions. The clubs are hosted at various accessible venues throughout the county, including schools, leisure centres, community groups, and sports clubs.
Council Encourages Families to Participate
Councillor Charles Pugsley, cabinet member for children and families, endorsed the programme, stating: “HAF sessions are a brilliant way for children to learn, play, and grow during the winter break. I encourage all eligible families to look at what’s on offer.”
For families unsure of their eligibility or those ready to book, the process is straightforward. They can check their status and secure a place for their child by visiting the official Leicestershire HAF page, where they can search for local providers by district.
