Aston Villa Release 12 Young Players Including Hollingshead

Twelve young players will officially leave Aston Villa today, with their contracts expiring on June 30. The departures include eight academy graduates who are now free agents and four scholars who have been released.

Notable Departures

The only player from the list to have made a first-team squad is goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead, who was an unused substitute in Aston Villa's Premier League match against Brighton last December. Hollingshead has since signed with National League North outfit Kings Lynn Town, managed by former Birmingham City defender Paul Caddis. Midfielder Ewan Simpson has also secured a move to Scottish side Airdrieonians.

Aston Villa's Senior Squad Intact

Regarding first-team players, Villa's housekeeping has been good, and they are not losing any of Unai Emery's senior professionals for nothing. The club has managed contract situations effectively, ensuring no key players leave on free transfers.
