Congleton High School Shuts for Two Days After Flu Outbreak
Cheshire school closes due to flu-like illness outbreak

A Cheshire high school has been forced to close its doors for two days after a significant outbreak of a flu-like illness swept through the student body.

Deep Clean Amid High Absence Rates

Congleton High School on Box Lane will remain shut on Wednesday, November 26 and Thursday, November 27. The decision was communicated to parents via a letter, which cited high levels of sickness absence as the primary reason for the temporary closure.

The school is using this time to undergo a thorough deep clean in an effort to curb the spread of the infection. This action follows direct advice from both the UK Health Security Agency and a specialist infection control team.

Continuity of Learning Plans Activated

Despite the physical closure, the school has activated its plan for the effective continuation of learning. Work will be set in accordance with the usual timetable, where staff are well enough to do so, the letter to parents assured.

Parents and guardians are advised to expect a further update on the situation on the afternoon of Thursday, November 27.
