Charnwood Wildlife Group Raises £800 for Nature Reserve at Annual Meeting
The Charnwood Local Group of the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust recently convened its Annual General Meeting at Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall, marking a significant event for local conservation efforts.
During the gathering, chairman Dave Robinson presented a cheque for £800 to Mat Carter, CEO of the Trust. This generous donation was raised through a series of engaging talks and activities organised by the group over the past year.
Funds Earmarked for Kelham Bridge Nature Reserve
The £800 contribution is specifically designated for use at the Trust’s Kelham Bridge Nature Reserve, supporting habitat preservation and wildlife protection initiatives in the area.
Mat Carter addressed the attendees, discussing the Trust’s future plans across Leicestershire and Rutland, as well as highlighting key achievements from the previous year. His insights provided a comprehensive overview of ongoing and upcoming conservation projects.
Educational Talks Enrich the Meeting
The AGM also featured two informative short presentations by committee members. Topics included:
- Wildlife observations and conservation efforts on the Isle of Mull.
- The practice and importance of ringing black-headed gulls for research and monitoring purposes.
These talks underscored the group’s commitment to education and community engagement in wildlife matters.
