Rossendale Rotary Boosts Lumb Millennium Green with Community Garden Initiative
Rossendale Rotary Enhances Lumb Millennium Green with Edible Garden

Rossendale Rotary Drives Community Garden Project at Lumb Millennium Green

Rossendale Rotary has been instrumental in supporting the Friends of Lumb Millennium Green to establish a consistent maintenance schedule and organize a mid-summer community event. This initiative is now yielding positive results through a partnership with Incredible Edible Rossendale, which has sourced and planted three containers, including one featuring rhubarb as shown in the image below.

Free Produce for Local Residents

The produce from these containers will be freely available to local residents, with the hope that this will encourage community involvement in caring for this vital green space. Rossendale Rotary aims to foster a sense of ownership and stewardship among neighbors, enhancing the area's appeal and usability.

Council Support and Ongoing Efforts

In addition to the garden project, Rossendale Rotary has expressed gratitude to Rossendale Council for their continuous work on maintaining the hedges and football field at Lumb Millennium Green. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in preserving and improving local amenities.

Call for Volunteers and New Members

To sustain and expand these community initiatives, Rossendale Rotary is actively seeking more members and helpers. The organization invites individuals interested in dedicating their time, talents, skills, and energy to make a positive impact both locally and beyond. Whether you want to contribute to community projects or believe Rossendale Rotary can assist your efforts, you are encouraged to get involved.
