Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and Birmingham Chinese Festival Committee together with Birmingham Hippodrome have confirmed that festivities will commence on this significant date.

During the half-term week, families can enjoy numerous free activities including funfair rides and market stalls in Hippodrome Square. The comprehensive programme also features a festival stage in Southside presenting traditional and contemporary performances encompassing music, dance, and theatre.
Main Celebration Event Details
The highlight will be the main Chinese New Year festival celebration on Sunday, February 22, marking the Year of the Fire Horse with a traditional lion procession through Hippodrome Square and Chinatown.
