Morrisons Launches Free Breakfast Initiative in Birmingham for Easter
Morrisons supermarkets have announced the return of their popular Kellogg's Breakfast Club scheme, providing complimentary breakfasts to families across Birmingham during the Easter school holidays. This initiative aims to alleviate financial pressures on households by offering a simple, balanced meal at no cost.
How to Access the Free Breakfast Offer
Families visiting any Morrisons café in Birmingham can receive a free 'Kellogg's Breakfast', which includes a bowl of cereal and a portion of fruit. Both adults and children are eligible for this offer, making it an inclusive opportunity for all family members to enjoy a meal together.
Participants can choose from cereals such as Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies, served with either dairy or non-dairy milk options. Each meal is accompanied by a free apple or banana, ensuring a nutritious start to the day.
Addressing Holiday Food Insecurity
Matt Khan, senior trader for Morrisons Café, emphasized the supermarket's commitment to supporting families during challenging times. "We know the school holidays can bring extra pressures for families, from food costs to keeping routines in place," he stated. "We're here to help by opening our Café spaces up for Breakfast Clubs to give families a chance to enjoy a simple, balanced breakfast together."
This initiative comes in response to concerning statistics shared by Morrisons, revealing that 33 percent of parents struggle to feed their children during school breaks. The figure rises to 40 percent among parents aged 25 to 34, highlighting particular challenges for younger families.
Extended Support Beyond Easter
The Breakfast Club will run throughout the Easter holidays and continue in England, Scotland, and Wales, with the goal of helping families when schools are closed. Additionally, Morrisons maintains its year-round Kids Eat Free programme, where children receive a complimentary meal with any adult purchase.
Further research from Morrisons indicates that 80 percent of parents worry about their food lasting until the next shopping trip during holidays, while 77 percent report increased food spending when children are home from school. These findings underscore the importance of community support initiatives like the Breakfast Club.
By offering these free breakfasts, Morrisons aims to provide practical assistance to Birmingham residents, fostering community well-being during the Easter period and beyond.
