A dog was rescued from a house fire in Burntwood, Staffordshire, after all occupants managed to escape the blaze safely. The incident occurred on Queen Street on Sunday night, April 26, just after 10:30 PM.
Three fire appliances were dispatched to the scene following reports of smoke emerging from the first floor of the property. Upon arrival, firefighters found that all residents had already evacuated and were waiting outside.
Crews located a dog inside the burning building and brought it to safety. The animal was given oxygen therapy at the scene before being transported to a veterinary practice for precautionary examinations.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service stated: "Crews rescued a dog from a large house fire in Burntwood recently. We were called at 10:35 PM on Sunday to a house on Queen Street following reports of smoke coming from the first floor. Three appliances attended, and all occupants had got out and were waiting outside when we arrived. The fire was extinguished, and nobody was reported injured. Crews rescued a dog from the property and gave it oxygen therapy before it was taken to a vet for precautionary checks."
Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Watch Manager Richard Rudge, who attended the scene, emphasized the importance of safety: "The occupants of the house did the right thing by immediately getting out and waiting outside for us. You should never try to tackle house fires yourself or return to collect valuables. Remember, get out, stay out, and call 999."
