Nationwide is transforming its 605 branches across the UK into emergency hubs, equipping them with public access defibrillators and bleed control kits. The initiative, in partnership with Visa and St John Ambulance, aims to provide life-saving equipment in local communities.
Training and Accessibility
Training will be provided to 4,000 staff members and local community volunteers. The equipment will be available 24/7, except in branches located within shopping centres, where access will be directed by 999 emergency services.
Community Impact
Amanda Beech, Nationwide's Director of Retail Services, said: "By transforming our branches into visible, emergency hubs, we're making it easier to access help when every second counts." Nationwide research found that 87 per cent of people would feel safer knowing life-saving equipment is available locally, yet only 27 per cent know where their nearest defibrillator is located.
Commitment to Branches
This initiative follows Nationwide's pledge to keep all branches open until at least 2030, reinforcing its commitment to local communities.
