Tinnitus UK is inviting people living with tinnitus, along with their families, friends and support networks, to attend a free Tinnitus Information Day in Cardiff. The event, taking place on Saturday, July 4, at the School of Management Building, Cardiff Metropolitan University, aims to help people better understand tinnitus, reduce feelings of stress and isolation, and provide practical advice on managing the condition.
Understanding Tinnitus
An estimated one in seven adults experience tinnitus, often described as ringing, buzzing, hissing or other sounds heard in the ears or head with no external source. While there is currently no cure, many people find that the right information, support and management techniques can significantly improve their quality of life. Throughout the day, attendees will hear from tinnitus experts covering a range of topics, including understanding tinnitus, available treatments, stress management and relaxation techniques.
Interactive Sessions and Exhibitions
The event will also feature an exhibition area with organisations and service providers offering support and information. Interactive sessions will give attendees the opportunity to try activities that may help with tinnitus management, including yoga and mindfulness. Yoga taster sessions will be led by Diana O'Reilly. The event is free to attend and includes refreshments and a light lunch. Communication support will also be available for people with hearing impairments.
Expert Perspective
Lewis Budden, Marketing Manager at Tinnitus UK, said: "Many people tell us that tinnitus can feel overwhelming when it first starts. It can leave people feeling anxious, isolated and unsure where to turn for help. Our Information Days are designed to change that. They bring together expert advice, practical support and people with shared experiences in a welcoming environment. We regularly hear from attendees that they leave feeling more positive, more informed and more confident about managing their tinnitus."
