Dave Christian and Jacquelyn Cook, a couple who left their quiet off-grid life behind, are trekking hundreds of miles to raise money for a non-profit micro-pub and community hub in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Their journey, called 'Bimbling Home', runs from Cambridgeshire to Yorkshire, with the goal of creating a space where craft beer, live music, and creative expression fund local mental health initiatives.
From Off-Grid to On a Mission
After three years of intentional off-grid living, the couple decided their next chapter should focus on building community. Combining their backgrounds in hospitality and the arts, they plan to open a venue where every pint and event generates proceeds for mental health support. Jacquelyn Cook said: 'We want to build a space where people don't just come for a drink, but to find a sense of belonging.'
A Sustainable Sanctuary for Connection
The non-profit model ensures that profits are reinvested into local mental health projects, aiming to combat loneliness and foster genuine human connection. As they walk toward the Yorkshire border, the couple carries blueprints for a brighter, more connected future. Their journey serves as a reminder that sometimes the longest way home is the perfect start to something new.
