A former Birmingham doctor is facing a total of 41 serious charges relating to alleged sexual assaults against 38 patients, including young children.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer, aged 38 and from the Quinton area of Birmingham, has been charged with a raft of alleged sexual offences. The charges include 15 counts of sexual assault and 17 counts of assault by penetration against patients.

Among the most serious allegations are those concerning minors. Spencer faces nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and three counts of assault by penetration of a child under 13.

Hospitals and Timeline of Employment

The alleged offences are connected to his work at two major NHS hospital trusts in the Midlands over a four-year period. Staffordshire Police investigated reported incidents at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Dr. Spencer was employed as a resident doctor by the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) NHS Trust from August 2017 to August 2020. He then worked on placement at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust from August 2020 until April 2021.

Ongoing Process and Trust Responses

Both NHS trusts have confirmed they are cooperating fully with the police investigation. They have stated that patient safety and wellbeing is their highest priority.

The doctor has been suspended from practising medicine in the UK pending the outcome of the criminal process. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 20 January 2026.
