A young mother described as 'fit and healthy' has died suddenly in her sleep while almost 20 weeks pregnant with her second child.
A Sudden and Devastating Loss
Charlie Comer, aged 22, went to bed on Sunday, October 13, after not feeling well and tragically never woke up. Her family have been left shattered by her unexpected passing, which occurred at her home in Devon.
Charlie was excited about the arrival of her baby boy, whom she had already decided to name Arlo. Her mother, Carrie Burns, 42, said the loss of her daughter and unborn grandson was heartbreaking.

An initial post-mortem examination has been unable to determine a cause of death, leaving the family in agonising limbo. Further tests are being conducted, but an inquest date is not yet known.
"The post-mortem didn't reveal anything," Carrie explained. "Charlie was almost 20 weeks pregnant, and she had a lot of morning sickness. Then on the Sunday, she wasn't feeling very well; she'd had a chippy the night before, and she assumed the food was a bit dodgy."
She added: "It's a real struggle, not knowing what's caused it and why this has happened. It's so much harder. If we could make some sense of it... at least when you know why you can start to process it a bit."
A Life Full of Promise
Charlie leaves behind her 18-month-old daughter, Remi, who now lives with her father. The family are committed to ensuring Remi knows how much her mother loved her.
"She's very much like her mum, she's her mum's double. She's too young to understand what's gone on," Carrie said. "We just have to do what we can for her now."
Those close to Charlie remember a vibrant woman who was finally in a positive place. "She was getting help for her mental health, and she was really flourishing," Carrie shared. "She was finally becoming the person she’d always wanted to be. She was such a bold, vibrant character; she made a huge impact on everyone she met."
A GoFundMe page has been launched to help Charlie's family with funeral costs as they navigate this profound tragedy.
