Comedian and television presenter Greg Davies has spoken candidly about a significant health warning from his doctor that prompted him to use the diabetes medication Ozempic, leading to a substantial weight loss.
The Doctor's Stark Warning
The 57-year-old star of Taskmaster revealed in a frank new interview that his general practitioner delivered a concerning assessment of his health. Davies, who stands at an imposing 6ft 8in, was told that his height was masking the seriousness of his condition. His GP cautioned that if he were a shorter man, he would "look obese." This direct health warning served as a major catalyst for the comedian to address his weight.
A Three Stone Loss on Ozempic
In response to the medical advice, Greg Davies turned to the drug Ozempic. He disclosed that he lost three stone in approximately four months while using the medication. Ozempic, which contains the active ingredient semaglutide, is officially licensed for managing type 2 diabetes in adults. Its weight-loss effects, stemming from its ability to curb appetite and boost metabolism, are considered a side effect, but have driven a surge in its popularity for that purpose.
Davies was characteristically honest about the journey's challenges, admitting to The Times that he has since "put most of it back on." This experience has led him to consider other methods for weight management, such as intermittent fasting.
Life in the Public Eye and Personal Boundaries
Beyond discussing his health, the interview touched on Davies's perspective on ageing and his fiercely guarded private life. He expressed a lack of concern about getting older, quipping that it is "probably good in my game." True to form, he declined to comment on his current relationship status, stating it is a good rule not to discuss one's present personal life.
He was previously in a long-term relationship with Labour politician Liz Kendall from 2007 to 2015. Kendall has previously emphasised their continued friendship while stressing the importance of keeping her private life separate from her public role.
Professionally, Davies's show Taskmaster remains a ratings success. The series recently concluded its 20th season, having aired since 2015. Fans can look forward to a festive special on Monday 22 December 2025, with New Year specials scheduled for 2nd and 3rd January 2026.
