Jack Osbourne's Invisible MS Battle in I'm A Celeb Jungle Revealed
Jack Osbourne's MS Battle While on I'm A Celeb

While audiences watch him face bushtucker trials on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, contestant Jack Osbourne is also managing a significant, invisible health battle. The reality star is living with multiple sclerosis (MS), a neurological condition he was diagnosed with at age 26.

Living with MS in the Jungle

Osbourne has impressed viewers and fellow campmates with his physical resilience during the show's demanding challenges, all while coping with the effects of MS. The autoimmune disease, which impacts the central nervous system, has led to a substantial loss of 60% of the vision in his right eye.

Although the topic hasn't been discussed in the camp yet, Osbourne has been open about his diagnosis in the past. He revealed that the vision loss prompted an emergency medical evaluation which ultimately led to his MS diagnosis.

Jack Osbourne's Personal MS Journey and Stigma

Speaking to Everyday Health, Osbourne addressed the commonality of MS and the stigma that can surround it, particularly for younger people. “MS is very common and a lot more common than people think,” he said. “A lot of people who are younger are nervous to let people know about it because of the stigma that comes along with it. I know a few people who keep it on the down low.”

In terms of management, Osbourne has pursued a path of alternative therapies. On his family podcast, The Osbournes, he explained he takes ‘a lot of supplementation’ and does not currently use traditional MS medication. “I have had some alternative therapy treatments over the years. I've always leaned towards alternative therapies,” he stated.

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves in the brain and spinal cord. The NHS notes that it affects everyone differently, but common symptoms include:

  • Vision problems
  • Severe fatigue
  • Difficulties with balance and coordination
  • Numbness or tingling sensations
  • Bladder and bowel issues

Despite the life-altering nature of his condition, Jack Osbourne refused to exclude himself from any jungle trials before entering the show. He declared himself unfazed by heights due to his climbing experience and claimed not to be a picky eater, though he admitted bugs were a genuine concern.

His participation highlights a remarkable story of resilience, showing that a diagnosis of MS does not define one's capabilities, even in one of television's most challenging environments.
