West Mercia Police have confirmed that the body of 22-year-old Brody Leach was recovered from the River Severn in Shrewsbury in the early hours of Saturday, June 27. Officers are not treating his death as suspicious and have deployed reassurance patrols in the area following the incident.
Timeline of events
Brody Leach was last seen entering the water in the early hours of Friday, June 23. He was reported missing after he reportedly got into difficulty. Emergency services launched a search operation, and West Mercia Police initiated a formal missing person investigation. The search continued over several days until his body was recovered early on June 27.
Police statement
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "The body, of Brody Leach, has sadly been recovered from the River Severn in Shrewsbury in the early hours of this morning (27 June). Brody, aged 22, was last seen yesterday (26 June) after it was reported he got into difficulty in the water. His death is not being treated as suspicious. Brody has been formally identified by his family and his next of kin have been made aware. Our thoughts are with them, and we ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
Area reopened and reassurance patrols
The area around the riverside where searches were taking place has now reopened. Police said reassurance patrols will continue in the area today to provide support to the community. Formal identification has taken place, and Brody's next of kin have been informed.
