The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, has allegedly made a surprising demand of his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, just days before their scheduled departure from Royal Lodge, their home for over two decades.
A Strained Relationship Before the Move
According to sources, the former couple agreed to leave the Windsor property after Andrew relinquished his titles to the Crown. While the exact moving date has not been confirmed, it is believed they will vacate the premises sometime in the New Year.
The situation has reportedly created significant tension, with a source from Woman's Day claiming that Sarah Ferguson is 'so angry with Andrew' over his recent demand. The source revealed that Andrew has insisted she be kept away from him, a request that has apparently upset the Duchess even further.
Isolation and Separate Lives
The strain is said to be taking a heavy toll on Sarah. The same source indicated that she has been feeling profoundly 'lonely' in Windsor, often isolating herself within the vast Lodge and pleading with staff members to stay longer to keep her company.
This report aligns with previous claims that the ex-couple are already leading largely separate lives within their soon-to-be former home. They are reportedly spending most of their time in different wings of the property, only coming together for meals.
A source previously told The Sun: "Andrew and Sarah are leading separate lives — at different ends and on different wings. But they come together quite often for lunch and dinner, and this is where they talk about their futures."
An Uncertain Future
During these shared meals, they are said to be having 'pretty intense conversations' about what lies ahead. The source added that Sarah, in particular, is 'panicking about what comes next' and is not in a good place mentally.
Her concerns are said to extend beyond herself to include the wellbeing of her and Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. She reportedly fears them all being 'caught in the crosshairs' of the ongoing royal upheaval.
As for Prince Andrew's future, it has been confirmed that he will relocate to the King's private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk in the new year, marking the beginning of what has been described as an internal exile.
