Aston Villa continue to monitor Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports. Premier League clubs can officially begin conducting business from June 15, with the window closing on September 1.
Interest in Gibbs-White
Villa were first linked with the 26-year-old earlier this year, and speculation has resurfaced amid uncertainty surrounding Morgan Rogers’ future. Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also said to be keen on Gibbs-White, who nearly joined Spurs 12 months ago.
Expected to Stay at Forest
According to the Daily Mail, Gibbs-White is “expected” to remain at the City Ground, partly because his admirers already have players in his preferred position. However, the situation could shift as the window progresses, particularly if Arsenal or Chelsea push for Rogers. In that case, Villa may turn to Gibbs-White as a direct replacement.
Gibbs-White signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest last summer after a move to Spurs fell through. He is under contract until 2028, and Forest head coach Vitor Pereira has expressed a strong desire to keep both Gibbs-White and midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Pereira’s Comments
“For me, they are top players and they deserve the top of the world,” Pereira said. “But I believe, if as a club we want to compete for different goals, we need to keep the best players. If not, if you change every season, it is difficult to be consistent and difficult to build something stronger.”
“We cannot control the market, of course, but I think we are aligned; what I think and what the club thinks is to try to keep most of them and to try to control the market. I feel proud of my players. When I hear that a lot of clubs speak about Morgan and Elliot, it means we did good work as a team and individually.”
Would Gibbs-White be a good signing for Villa? The coming weeks may provide an answer as the transfer dominoes begin to fall.
