37 Lloyds Banks to Close Across UK Next Month

The full list of 37 Lloyds bank branches set to close across the United Kingdom next month has been disclosed. Birmingham is among the cities most affected, with four sites scheduled to shut their doors in June 2026.

Background on the Closures

The Lloyds Banking Group, which also owns Halifax and Bank of Scotland, announced on February 11 that a total of 95 branches across its brands would be closing. This move is part of a broader trend in the banking industry as customers increasingly turn to digital services.

A spokesperson for Lloyds stated: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.” The bank, which serves 28 million customers nationwide, is also encouraging customers who visit remaining branches to open accounts through its online services instead.

Another Lloyds spokesperson added: “Anyone coming into a branch looking to open an account can do it in the branch, and will get help there and then.”

Industry-Wide Trend

Lloyds Banking Group is not alone in reducing its physical footprint. According to consumer group Which?, an estimated 6,693 bank branches have closed in the UK between January 2015 and January 2026.
