Eighty-six branches from major UK banks, including NatWest, Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, are set to close in June 2026. The financial institutions have been steadily reducing their physical presence throughout 2026, citing a growing preference among customers for online banking services.
Santander Closures
Santander, which has branches in Birmingham, has already closed the 40 branches scheduled for 2026. However, four more closures are planned, with dates yet to be confirmed but all before February 1, 2027. The affected branches are in Leighton Buzzard, Ormskirk, Whitehaven, and Wilmslow.
NatWest Closures
NatWest will close 14 branches in June, following dozens already shut this year. Branches closing include Hemel Hempstead (June 1), Palmers Green London (June 1), Aldershot (June 2), Welwyn Garden City (June 3), Pontefract (June 4), Southall (June 4), Sheffield Attercliffe (June 8), South Shields (June 9), Kirkby Lonsdale (June 10), Boston (June 11), Grays (June 15), Liverpool Street Station (June 17), Fulham Broadway (June 18), and Halifax (June 18). Further closures are scheduled for August (Evesham, August 25), September (Regent Street London, September 30), and February 2027 (Godalming, Sydenham, Herne Bay).
Lloyds Bank Closures
Lloyds is closing 37 branches in June, including locations in Cheapside London, West Byfleet, Staines, Norwich, Birmingham Kingstanding, Cardiff, London Bridge, Birmingham Maypole, Golders Green, Birkenhead, Lymington, Altrincham, Crowborough, Lancaster, Southam, Hinckley, Birmingham Blackheath, South Newington, Wolverhampton Tettenhall, Hull, Moreton-in-Marsh, Birmingham Bordesley Green, Llangefni, Wareham, Tewkesbury, Woodley, Sevenoaks, Uttoxeter, Camberwell Green, Hoddesdon, Kingswinford, Aberdare, Coalville, Heswall, Ringwood, Didcot, and Newmarket. Additional closures are set for July (Swansea Enterprise Park), August (Daventry, Bristol Fishponds, Horncastle), and 2027 (Clevedon, Ebbw Vale, Street, Honiton, Wednesbury, Stoke-on-Trent).
Halifax Closures
Halifax is closing 25 branches in June, including Ashton-under-Lyne, Chichester, Cwmbran, Horsham, Southgate, Surrey Quays, Ashington, Sutton Coldfield, Beeston, Billingham, Ellesmere Port, Hunts Cross, Shipley, Didsbury, Bridgend, Cardiff Albany Road, Bognor Regis, Bramley, Greenford, West Bridgford, Goole, Halesowen, Thornaby, Chorley, and Croydon City. Another closure is scheduled for July (Torquay) and 2027 (Mexborough, Armthorpe).
Bank of Scotland Closures
Bank of Scotland is closing 10 branches in June: Garrowhill, Penicuik, Bridge Of Don, Haddington, Rutherglen, Broughty Ferry, Blairgowrie, Stonehaven, Kelso, and Lochgilphead. Additional closures are in July (Benbecula Balivanich, Largs) and October (Hawick, Grangemouth).
