Royal Mail Issues Warning for 30 UK Postcodes Amid Delivery Delays
The Royal Mail has issued a significant warning for 30 postcodes across the United Kingdom, including a notable cluster of 10 within the West Midlands region. This alert comes just hours after another increase in stamp prices, adding to customer frustrations over postal services.
Delivery Disruptions in West Midlands and Beyond
According to Royal Mail, a small number of local offices are currently unable to maintain daily deliveries to every address. The affected areas in the West Midlands include Aldridge, Dudley, Lichfield, Stone, and Rugeley, with Southam also impacted, bringing the total to 10 postcodes in this conurbation alone.
Royal Mail stated in an official communication: "We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors."
Response and Customer Impact
The postal service has outlined measures to mitigate the delays, including rotating deliveries to minimize inconvenience for individual customers. They emphasized that targeted support is being provided to the affected offices to restore service standards.
"We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding," Royal Mail added, acknowledging the disruption faced by residents and businesses in these areas.

Broader Context: Safety Concerns and Dog Attacks
This warning follows recent Royal Mail appeals for households with dogs to display warning signs to enhance postal worker safety. New figures from June 30, 2025, show a 2% increase in dog attacks on postal workers over the past year, totaling 2,197 incidents nationwide.
This equates to approximately 42 attacks per week across the UK, with some postal workers suffering serious, life-altering injuries. Royal Mail has suggested that a simple four-word sign reading "I have a dog" could help prevent such incidents and ensure uninterrupted deliveries.
The combination of delivery delays and safety challenges underscores the ongoing pressures on Royal Mail's operations, impacting communities across the UK, particularly in the West Midlands where multiple postcodes are affected.
