Former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan has launched a blistering critique of the hit BBC show, demanding that at least two of its current judges be axed.
The 47-year-old dancer, who starred on the programme between 2006 and 2013, insists the judging panel needs a significant shake-up to restore its credibility.
Calling for a Judging Shake-Up
James did not hold back in his assessment, stating plainly that the show must 'get rid of at least two of them' to create meaningful change. He believes new judges should be appointed who are not intimidated by the potential backlash from a 'woke minority'.
The current panel, consisting of Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke, has been in place since 2021. Jordan argues that their feedback has become too soft and lacks the constructive, technical criticism essential for a dance competition.
A Plea for Honest Critique
James elaborated on his position, highlighting a preference for the more direct judging style of the past. 'Maybe get someone on there that’s quite honest and outspoken, and not afraid to say the truth,' he said.
He emphasised that judges should feel empowered to point out specific technical flaws without resorting to personal attacks. 'It’s OK to say "actually, I didn’t enjoy this dance, I didn’t feel your technique was correct, you’re doing heel leads instead of being on the toe, your posture needs work",' Jordan explained. 'What’s wrong with saying that?'
Married to fellow former Strictly pro Ola Jordan, he concluded that the panel needs to bring back a level of honest assessment. 'You don’t need to be mean, you don’t need to be horrible or get personal, but I think it needs a bit of honesty on the panel.'
