Drag performer La Voix has made an emotional exit from Strictly Come Dancing, forced to leave the BBC competition due to injury.
An Unexpected Exit
The departure was announced during the start of the Blackpool special, marking the third exit due to injury this series after previous contestants Steffan Dennis and Dani Dyer. La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis and who was runner-up on RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2024, had initially received a pass to perform the following week with professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec.
However, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkelman informed the audience that medical professionals had advised she could not continue in the competition. As a result, there was no dance-off, and all six remaining celebrities were confirmed to progress to the next round.
A Poignant and Emotional Interview
La Voix returned to the show for an emotional exit interview, where she was visibly moved by her dance partner's touching words. Aljaz Skorjanec stated he felt he had made 'two friends for life' this year.
"On Saturday and Sundays we all laughed with La Voix but from Monday to Friday I had the best time with Chris," he said. "I feel like the world needs more of you [drag queens]. I think Strictly needed it. You made my life joy for the last weeks. I'm going to miss dancing with you...You are so brilliant at what you do."
A Bond Forged on the Dancefloor
Wiping away tears, La Voix responded with equally heartfelt praise for her professional partner. She gushed about his dedication, saying, "What you see on that dancefloor is a fraction of the love and the passion and the heart this man has for dance and his craft."
She credited Aljaz with transforming her experience, stating, "You've made me carry on when I've questioned myself, you've made me laugh on the toughest days and when I haven't thought I could do something, you never gave up on me once."
La Voix concluded that she would be leaving the competition "braver, happier and such a more confident person and that's because of you." She couldn't resist one final quip, however, adding, "With me leaving unexpectedly...at least it gives someone else in this competition a chance to win now."
