Ware Joggers Shine at Historic Hillingdon 20-Mile Road Race
In a remarkable display of endurance and skill, Ware Joggers emerged as the standout performers at the recent Hillingdon 20-mile road race, an event renowned as the world's oldest continuously contested 20-mile road race. The race, organized by Hillingdon Athletic Club, took place on the well-marshalled roads of Ruislip, attracting over 400 runners from various clubs.
Michael Waddington's Stunning Victory
Club member Michael Waddington stormed to victory in the race, finishing with an impressive time of 1:45:20. This outstanding performance not only secured him the overall win but also set a new Ware Joggers senior record, highlighting his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. Beating such a large field of competitors underscores the competitive nature of this historic event.
Cate Campany's Age Category Triumph
Adding to the club's success, Cate Campany, who serves as the Treasurer for Ware Joggers, achieved first place in her age category, F65-69, with a time of 2:56:24. Her achievement is further amplified by setting a new Ware Joggers FV60 club record, demonstrating that age is no barrier to excellence in long-distance running.
Strong Performances from Other Club Members
The Ware Joggers' dominance did not stop there. Paskell Blackwell delivered a strong performance, finishing in 2:06:15 and securing third place in the M45-49 age category. Nick Axam followed closely, crossing the finish line just three seconds behind in 2:06:18, earning fourth place in the same category. Overall, Paskell and Nick placed 20th and 21st respectively, showcasing the depth of talent within the Ware Joggers team.
These results collectively highlight Ware Joggers' commitment to excellence and their ability to compete at the highest levels of road racing.
