It is that time of year when Championship clubs are finalising their retained lists, and Birmingham City are no different. Blues and their rivals must inform out-of-contract players whether they intend to keep them by Saturday, May 16. Jonathan Panzo is the only senior Blues player whose deal is due to expire this summer.
Four Clubs Already Released Lists
Four Championship clubs have already published their retained lists, releasing a total of 19 players into the free agent market. Charlton Athletic have released midfielders Luke Berry and Terry Taylor. Berry, 33, has played under Charlton boss Nathan Jones at two different clubs and played a key role in their promotion to the Championship in 2024/25. The Addicks have confirmed they have exercised an option in Tyreece Campbell's contract and are in talks with ex-Blues striker Lyndon Dykes over a new deal. Dykes' contract will expire at the end of June.
QPR Release Experienced Goalkeepers
Queens Park Rangers have released two experienced goalkeepers in Paul Nardi and Ben Hamer. French goalkeeper Nardi started 17 Championship games last term, including QPR's 2-1 win over Blues at Loftus Road in December. Experienced midfielder Isaac Hayden will also leave QPR at the end of his contract.
Norwich City Clear Out
Norwich City have released some vastly experienced Championship players in the form of Shane Duffy, Emiliano Marcondes and Jeffrey Schlupp. Duffy and Schlupp are well into their thirties now, but Marcondes, 31, was a mainstay in the Canaries' XI little over a year ago. He contributed five goals and eight assists from an attacking midfield position in 2024/25. Winger Tony Springett, who made 15 appearances for Norwich last season, and back-up goalkeeper Dan Barden are also leaving Carrow Road.
Oxford United Release Former Blues Loanee

Myles Peart-Harris, Hidde ter Avest, Owen Dale, Will Goodwin, Joshua Johnson, Jacob Knightbridge, Steph Negru and Stuart Findlay will also leave Oxford following their drop into League One.
