Aston Villa's Europa League Win Boosts Sponsorship Value by £3m
Aston Villa Sponsorship Up £3m After Europa League Win

Aston Villa have seen their sponsorship value increase by £3 million following their Europa League triumph, according to a new study. The report, compiled by The Sponsor, estimates that Villa can now command a fair market value of £26.2 million for front-of-shirt and sleeve deals.

Seventh Highest in Premier League

This figure places Aston Villa seventh in the Premier League sponsorship rankings. However, it remains less than half of what top clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United can expect. Liverpool lead the table with a fair market value of £61 million, followed by Manchester City at £60.1 million and Manchester United at £60 million. Arsenal are fourth at £59.2 million, a significant increase from £31.3 million in 2023, boosted by winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final.

Chelsea and Tottenham See Declines

Chelsea's sponsorship value has dropped by £16.7 million to £33.6 million, while Tottenham's has fallen to £29.8 million after two consecutive 17th-place finishes. Despite this, Tottenham's value is still £3.6 million higher than Villa's, highlighting the revenue gap Aston Villa must bridge to support manager Unai Emery on the pitch.

Villa are mindful of UEFA's squad cost rules, which limit the club to spending 70 per cent of revenue on player wages and transfers. Sean Connell of The Sponsor commented: "This year's results reveal a widening gap between the league's most commercially powerful clubs and the rest of the market in a post-gambling-ban era."

Fair market value represents the income a team can reasonably expect for its sponsorship on the open market. The report concludes that the Premier League's ban on gambling sponsorship has not caused a collapse in value, though it has reduced sponsor demand. Real Madrid's £63.1 million valuation remains the most valuable shirt sponsorship asset in Europe.
