Aston Villa are facing another intriguing summer of transfer business as they prepare for a return to the Champions League next season. The club has reportedly stepped up its bid to sign Roma's Matias Soule, who is set for crunch talks over his future.
Matias Soule Move Gathers Pace
The attacking midfielder is set for a meeting with Roma's owners to discuss his future, with Villa said to be keen on enticing him to the Premier League. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Soule could be available for £35m, with Roma prepared to use the funds to pursue one of Crysencio Summerville, Antonio Nusa, or Mathys Tel.
Soule has been impressive this season, quickly becoming Roma's chief orchestrator with seven goals and seven assists. Villa have established a good relationship with Roma after the Donyell Malen deal, and the link between the two clubs is expected to be key in any negotiation.
Roma are under pressure to sell due to UEFA's financial regulations, needing to balance the books before the June 30 deadline. Failure to do so could lead to sanctions, especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. Soule can play out wide but is often used behind the striker, offering tactical flexibility.
Youri Tielemans a Target for Galatasaray
Youri Tielemans is at the top of Galatasaray's summer wishlist, according to Turkish Football. The Belgian is wanted to revamp their midfield, and sources claim the Turkish club sees an opportunity to lure him to Rams Park. Villa are also facing PSR pressures, and it is claimed that no player in Unai Emery's squad is untouchable.
Tielemans has been an outstanding signing for Villa since joining on a free transfer from Leicester City, again showing his worth in the 4-2 win over Liverpool. He is under contract until June 2028, but a decent offer from Galatasaray could tempt Villa into a sale. Since signing in summer 2023, Tielemans has made over 100 appearances for Villa in all competitions, standing on the brink of glory with a return to the Champions League.
Marcus Rashford Keen on Barcelona Stay
Marcus Rashford is ready to reject a return to Aston Villa and do everything he can to stay at Barcelona. After struggling at Manchester United, Rashford rediscovered his form at Villa during a loan spell with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances. A subsequent move to Barcelona continued his resurgence, with 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 appearances this season after moving to the Nou Camp in 2025.
Speculation is mounting about Rashford's future, with TEAMtalk reporting that Barcelona want another loan deal. The Spanish giants are hesitant to trigger the option to buy him for £26m, which has rekindled interest from Villa, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish outlet states: "Emery is prepared to make a strong bid for the English winger currently on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United." However, Rashford is reportedly happy in Spain and keen to remain at the Nou Camp.
