Lancashire's Daisy Lee secured the Girls' Fairhaven Trophy in impressive fashion, finishing six shots ahead of defending champion Elizabeth Wilson, a fellow England Girls' Squad member. The 16-year-old carded rounds of 75, 76, and 75 to finish at 3-under par, the only competitor to break par across all four rounds.
A Dream Victory
Daisy expressed her delight: 'I've known about this tournament for years, and it's always been a dream to win it, especially as it's close to home. I'm really happy with the way I played, especially over the last two rounds. My playing partners were Swiss and really friendly, which helped a lot. In the final round, I spent a lot of time in the trees, but I kept making pars — I felt like Jordan Spieth!'
Heading into the week, her goal was modest: 'I just wanted to make the cut because I'd played with a member last week and it didn't go too well, but I stuck with it.'
Strong Recent Form
The victory ranks among Daisy's finest results. She was the leading under-16 player at the 2025 Flogas Irish Girls' Championship and runner-up at the 2025 English Girls' Open Stroke Play Championship. Daisy added: 'It's more of a relief, really, because my exams are next week. I can focus on those now, then get back to golf afterwards without worrying too much.'
Girls' Championship Standings
Six players made the cut from the 22-player field. Lila Bisset (Northamptonshire County) and Liliya Favre (Switzerland) tied for third, while Ava Gadsby (East Herts) finished fifth. Maybel Brooks withdrew due to injury in the third round despite leading after the second. The full leaderboard is available at www.golfgenius.com/pages/12282869118083835689.
Boys' Championship
England Boys' Squad member George Whitehead closed with a superb 4-under 68, tying the tournament low round, to finish at 2-under overall and continue his impressive form. The Hillside golfer, who won last month's Peter McEvoy Trophy at Copt Heath, improved his score each day with rounds of 75, 72, 71, and 68, climbing into a tie for fourth.
Whitehead was joined on the same total by Ringway's Cole Self, while England teammate Aaron Moody and Thetford's Sullivan Goddard tied for seventh on level par. Another national teammate, Alex Boyes, secured a tie for ninth at 1-over. The full boys' leaderboard can be viewed at www.golfgenius.com/pages/12644901877364860631.
