Freiburg Star Ginter Injury Blow Ahead of Villa Final

Freiburg have been dealt a significant injury concern ahead of the Europa League final against Aston Villa. Veteran centre-back Matthias Ginter was forced off during their 3-2 defeat to Hamburg on Sunday, potentially sidelining him for the crucial clash.

The extent of Ginter's injury remains unclear, but his absence would be a major blow to manager Julian Schuster. The 32-year-old former Germany international has been ever-present this season, making 50 appearances across all competitions and playing every minute of Freiburg's Europa League campaign, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

In addition to Ginter's uncertain status, Freiburg will definitely be without key midfielder Yuito Suzuki for the final. The Japan international fractured his collarbone in a Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg earlier this month. Suzuki, who joined Freiburg for €10 million, has had an impressive debut season with nine goals and several assists, including four goals in the Europa League.
